We’ve all been there. You’re deep in analysis, trying to figure out why a specific metric looks off, or you need to test a new filter combination without breaking your weekly report.

Whether you notice something weird in your reporting or in the data itself, Data explorer on the Supermetrics Hub can help you identify what's going on quickly and take corrective action immediately.

What can Data explorer help you with?

With Data explorer, you can take quick snapshots of your data, include only the relevant metrics, dimensions, or date ranges – and the best thing: you don't have to make any changes to your actual reports until you've identified what's going on and what you need to change.

Here is how you can use Data explorer to try out new things, troubleshoot your data, and fix any issues in your reporting with more confidence.

"I'm seeing a weird spike! Where is it coming from?"

Unexpected anomalies, such as a sudden drop in clicks or a huge cost spike, are alarms you need to investigate immediately. Your dashboard shows the total, but doesn't tell you why.

The practical solution: Break down and spot anomalies by dimension.

  1. Build your query with your main metric (such as Cost).
  2. Add dimensions like Campaign name, Country, and Device to the query.
  3. Load the data. You can now sort the results by the Cost column to see exactly which campaign, country, or device is responsible for the spike.
  4. Once you've found the issue, you can quickly add a filter to isolate just that segment for deeper inspection before it escalates.

"I want to find out what's going on. Let's do some testing!"

When you need to debug a campaign or test a different data source account, you don't want to risk losing your original configuration in Data explorer or your reporting tools.

The practical solution: Create a copy of your query in Data explorer to branch your investigation and try some different settings.

  1. Create a copy of your query. If your query is already in Data explorer, select Duplicate to make a copy.
  2. Name the new query to describe your test (such as, "Facebook Ads - CTR Debugging").
  3. Change your fields or filters to investigate the issue.
  4. Save this as a new query to compare it with the original later.
