Hi Manuel (@adesso Marketing Analytics )
Good question that comes up often when working with these platforms. Meta has a few different APIs, and it can be a bit confusing to pin down which one does what.
For your specific case with Facebook Insights and Instagram Insights, the main ones you'll be dealing with are:
-
The Graph API for Facebook Insights data. You'd typically hit the /{page-id}/insights
endpoint to pull the metrics you need.
-
The Instagram Basic Display API and Instagram Graph API for Instagram Insights. The Graph API is the go-to for business and creator accounts.
The Marketing API is more for the paid advertising, managing ads, campaigns, and pulling ad performance reports.
Regarding the Supermetrics connectors, you can see our documentation for the Facebook Insights and Instagram Insights connectors outlines exactly which of these underlying Meta APIs we use and what data you can expect to get from them.
Hope this clears things up! Let me know if you have more questions.
